Stained Glass Artist
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kas Monson’s early years were spent between Tulsa, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. After attending Oklahoma State University, and majoring in Housing and Interior Design, she knew that her heart would not find satisfaction in that field. The lure of American Airlines and life as a Stewardess led her to a thirty-three year career with the airline. Decisions in life again took her from Dallas to Chicago and finally San Francisco where she met and married her husband, Prentiss. Her career ended in management where her area of responsibility involved the San Jose, California to Narita, Japan daily flight.
After moving to Gardnerville, and taking lessons from Becky Solderman of Gardnerville and John Antonson of Carson city, stained glass became her passion. “I was in love! There is a soul satisfying magic in creating something from bits and pieces of glass that other individuals can enjoy.” Her specialty has evolved into placing antique glass plates that no longer have a place on the table into designs that preserve their elegance and provide their owners with memories.
